Access Holdings & Coronation Group Showcase Nigerian Art in the UK

Access Corporation and Coronation Group Ltd have joined forces to present a landmark exhibition of Nigerian modernist art at Tate Modern in London. Featuring over 250 pieces from more than 50 artists, the showcase spans Nigeria’s artistic evolution from the 1940s to the early 2000s.

Chairman Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, who also serves on Tate Modern’s International Council, described the exhibition as a cultural homecoming. He emphasized that the initiative is not just corporate sponsorship but a strategic investment in African identity and heritage. “This is how we inspire the next generation—not just of artists, but of Africans who know our stories matter,” he said.

Tate Modern’s Director, Karin Hindsbo, praised the exhibition for bringing overdue global recognition to African Modernism and for celebrating Nigeria’s rich visual history. The exhibition aims to challenge outdated narratives and reconnect Nigerians—both at home and abroad—with their cultural roots.
